MyIBD Health Study is building one of the largest, most diverse communities of people focused on learning and sharing knowledge about inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) help_outline. IBD, inflammatory bowel disease, is an umbrella term for chronic gastrointestinal inflammation disorders, Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis, and IBD unclassified.By sharing your personal experiences through surveys at home, it has never been easier to help researchers find better treatments.

By sharing your journey with IBD, you could help researchers better understand IBD and improve future treatments. You can participate from the comfort of your own home – there are no in-person visits!
Eligible participants will answer a few initial questions to help researchers understand basic information about your health and managing IBD.
Respond to periodic survey questions that will help researchers learn about your life with IBD.
Complete follow-up surveys so that researchers can understand your experiences with managing IBD.
Supporting gut health research means you have the opportunity to potentially shape the future of care and treatments for IBD.
Access to research opportunities
Be the first to know about relevant research opportunities and future studies related to IBD.
Learn more through educational resources
You will have access to educational resources around topics such as nutrition and treatment options that could help empower and guide you no matter where you are on your IBD journey.
It feels good to do good
By sharing your own experiences, you’re supporting the entire IBD community in a search for potential new treatments.
As an IBD patient of nearly two decades, I’ve found that my disease journey is complex and unlike that of many other patients I’ve met. Research needs to reflect the entire IBD population. I hope that tracking my symptoms and sharing my disease experience may benefit other IBD patients.
MyIBD Health Study
IBD stands for inflammatory bowel disease, which is an umbrella term used to describe disorders that cause chronic inflammation of your gastrointestinal (GI) tract. The two most common forms of IBD are Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis.
MyIBD Health Study is a patient-powered research study that will expand knowledge of IBD. By gathering a large and diverse community of IBD patients over the long term, researchers will gain insights on baseline characteristics, disease progression, and patterns of care in the everyday lives of patients.
Participants have the opportunity to shape the future of IBD research, potential treatments, and enhance overall community knowledge, while learning more about the latest insights in IBD research.
This is a long-term study that is expected to continue for several years.
Note: Participating in a research study is completely voluntary. If you decide to participate in this study — or any research study — you can stop at any time and for any reason without it affecting your ongoing medical care.
You will fill out a survey at the time of enrollment, followed by additional surveys (about 5-10 minutes) every month. These surveys will include questions about demographics, IBD symptoms, treatments, impacts on quality of life, and more.
Participation is voluntary. Here are some of the key criteria:
Age 18 years or older
Diagnosis by a physician of Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis, or IBD unclassified
No, you can continue with any medications or treatments you may already be taking. You will not be asked to take new ones, as this is an observational study.
We will not share any information with your insurance or medical providers without your consent. You and your doctor will continue to make decisions about your care.
Project Baseline is a broad effort to better understand health and prevent disease. This study is a part of the broader initiative to better understand new possible treatments for IBD.
MyIBD Health Study is run in partnership with the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation, a non-profit, volunteer-fueled organization dedicated to improving the quality of life of people affected by IBD.
We apply reasonable and appropriate safeguards to protect the security, privacy, and confidentiality of the personal information you share with us. For instance, all of your personal information will be securely maintained in an encrypted database with restricted access. We take additional steps to keep your identity from being linked with any of your information.
